From Fins to Feet with a Biblical Twist

So... i've been sick in bed all weekend. Yes, yuck. At least I'm caught up on sleep and now have antibiotics in my body and am good to go! :) While i was confined to bed, i borrowed The Little Mermaid from my dear roommate Carling and was able to live it up as good ol Walt Disney provided me some entertainment.

So.... here's the story:
- the ruler of the sea allowing his daughter to enter another world which in turn created separation between father and child.

Or how about this one:
- the creator / ruler of the entire universe sending His Son to become human and die on cross for sins of world, creating separation from a holy Father and His sin-bearing Son.

Sound familiar?

Granted, there's a lot... a LOT of contrasts between the two stories of Ariel and Jesus Christ (such as... murmans/maids aren't holy and never could be, King Triton was only "ruler" of the sea, ariel never returned to her father, ariel didn't, say... die on a cross for the sins of the entire world, etc etc etc...), BUT i watched it and simply focused in on the love of the Father who was willing to experience a very real separation from his child as a result of his overflow of love. I love the line King Triton says, "There's only one problem: How much I'm going to miss her."

How hard it must have been to turn his child from fins to feet... and from holiness to human in looking at the story of the cross. May we all remember the cost of the cross and the separation Jesus had to experience with His Father while he bore our sins on the cross that we might one day be with them in heaven. May we never cease to be thankful!
